The Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) National Craft Championship was held
April 2011 in San Antonio, Texas.

For the first time, the competition was held as part of the ABC’s National Educational Conference and Exposition (EdCon & Expo). The Winner of the Commercial/Industrial Competition is Pawel David of Gaylor Electric’s Indiana location. Pawel is a third year apprentice at the Indianapolis ABC Chapter. He won the Indiana state championship in February. In addition to the first place gold medal, Pawel won $750.00 and a Hilti 18 volt cordless drill.

The Commercial/Industrial contest consisted of 25 state champion electrical apprentices. Each competitor completed a written evaluation, and precision conduit bending and motor control circuit fabrication and installation hands-on performance tasks.

Mark Wolschleger was the Gold Medalist winner at the 2012 ABC National Craft Championships in San Antonio, Texas.

Mark competed in the Electrical: Residential/Commercial competition that ended on April 27th. Mark was also the First Place winner at the NC Department of Labor Electrical Contest at the NC State Fair in Raleigh last fall, which qualified him to compete at the ABC National Competition.

Mark, who works in the Watson Electrical Raleigh Division, won both cash and other prizes in addition to his Gold Medal.

The National Craft Championships are composed of apprentices from all over the country competing in twelve different competitions representing 10 crafts over two days. The competition covers both a written exam and a practical hands-on performance test. The competition took place in conjunction with the 2012 ABC EdCon & Expo Conference.

Congratulations to Watson Electrical, Mark, his trainers, coworkers, managers, support staff and supervisors who made this event a success!

Gregory Philligin of Watson Electrical’s Wilmington NC location came in 2nd Place in the Commercial/Residential Competition. Gregory won the NC Electrical Apprentice Contest last October and his trip to the ABC National Craft Championship was sponsored by CECA’s Bill Boyette Scholarship Fund.

Both Gaylor and Watson have several locations throughout the Carolinas.
Congratulations to both Gaylor and Watson and their Apprentices
